Who can apply for the Dominic Esangbedo Tertiary Education Scholarship?
Eligible applicants must be indigenes of Edo State enrolled in undergraduate STEM-related degree or HND programs at a public university or polytechnic in Edo State. This scholarship is for undergraduate studies only, not for postgraduate programs. The required Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) varies by category: Igueben LGA applicants need a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 5.0 scale, while other Edo LGAs require a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.
Can past recipients apply again?
Yes. If you received the Dominic Esangbedo scholarship in the past and still meet the eligibility criteria, you can reapply for the current year’s scholarship program.
What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship provides financial support toward academic expenses. Details on disbursement and coverage will be shared with selected candidates during the award process.
What is considered a STEM program?
STEM includes courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Examples include: Engineering (all fields), Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, Information Technology, and related fields.
Do I need to submit a document from my Head of Department?
Yes. All applicants must upload a signed and stamped letter from their Head of Department confirming they are a current student and stating their latest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The letter must be on official department letterhead and dated within the last 3 months.
Can I apply if I just got admitted into 100 level?
Not yet. Applicants must have at least one academic session completed and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) available to be eligible for the scholarship.
Are female students and vulnerable groups prioritized?
Yes. Female students and applicants from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply, as they receive priority consideration in the selection process.
What if my CGPA is just below the requirement?
Unfortunately, only applicants who meet or exceed the stated Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) thresholds are eligible. The minimum requirements are 2.5 for Igueben LGA and 3.5 for other Edo LGAs.
When is the application deadline?
All applications must be submitted by the deadline. Late applications will not be considered, so please ensure you submit well before the deadline.
How will I know if I'm selected?
All selected applicants will be contacted via email and/or phone. Finalists will also be announced on the EHFoundation website and social media platforms. Please sure your email and phone number are accurate
What file formats are accepted for document uploads?
For most documents, we accept PDF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG formats. The HOD letter must be in PDF format. All files should be under 2MB in size.
Is there an age limit for applicants?
There is no age limit, but applicants must be currently enrolled in an eligible STEM program at a public tertiary institution in Nigeria.
